Auto and Home FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions about Auto and Home insurance benefits through California Casualty.

How come I’ve never heard of California Casualty? Top

CalCas has been proudly serving PORAC members since 1969, but it’s not surprising if you’ve never heard of them. Unlike those “big-box” insurance companies that spend millions on advertising and gimmicky mascots, California Casualty has remained committed to its founding values – putting customers first, earning your trust and providing the best possible service.

Can anyone get coverage from California Casualty? Top

No, not exactly. Anyone may obtain a quote, but CalCas is focused on providing coverage to those who serve and enrich our communities – which is why their tagline is “We Protect American Heroes”.

What does CalCas offer that I can’t get from other insurance companies? Top

The partnership between PORAC and California Casualty means that active and retired associate members have exclusive access to specially negotiated rates and discounts that aren’t available to the general public. Additionally, CalCas has created policies with features and benefits tailored to your unique needs. These include the Fallen Officer Survivor Benefit, reduced or waived deductibles, firearm and uniform coverage, skip payment options, free pet injury protection, 12-month rate lock guarantee and many more you won’t find elsewhere – at any price.

By focusing on protecting members of the law enforcement community, the CalCas team has a special appreciation for all you do. With a 99% customer satisfaction rating and one of the best retention rates in the industry, it shows.

When can I get covered by California Casualty? Top

You are welcome to get a quote and purchase a policy at any point during the year. There are no sign-up or participation date restrictions with this program.

Do I need to wait until my current policy(s) expire before I switch? Top

No. You have the right to switch at any time. In fact, California Casualty will help you get a refund of any unused premium you have already paid.

What payment plans are available? Top

There are several payment options available. Since CalCas offers 12-month policies (rather than renewing every 6 months), you can choose to pay annually, make five installments, or select E-Z pay with automatic deductions from your checking account monthly (or 10-month E-Z pay with two consecutive skip payments during the summer or holiday months). There is a nominal service fee associated with installments and E-Z pay options.

Some local associations also provide their members with a payroll deduction option. Payroll deduction is taken from after-tax dollars at no additional cost. Please speak with a California Casualty representative to see if your association offers a payroll deduction option.
